Jumbo or ''Cole'' jaws are used for gripping the top of a bowl in compression or expansion mode, allowing you to finish the bottom of the bowl. The jaw set comes with 8 buttons which can be placed in the various hole locations to accommodate a variety of bowl sizes. Cole Jaws (regardless of brand) are designed for light finishing cuts on the foot of a bowl or platter. They are designed for heavy cuts, as the buttons do not provide enough holding power to keep the piece securely in place. They must be used at slow speeds (500 RPM or slower), with the tailstock live center in place and never in reverse rotation. Our new design is made from lightweight cast aluminum for less inertia as compared to the original steel design. We have kept the diameter small (~10 inches) for safety (sorry). If you have a bigger bowl you would like to finish, we recommend making your own ''Doughnut Chuck'' which you can easily find on Google or YouTube. These jaws are only compatible with the HTC125. Measurements: Plate Diameter = 9 3/4'' Closed, 12'' Fully open Bowl size will be less than the plate diameter because of the buttons.
