Nickel is not an ingredient in cosmetics, but actually a substance that contaminates cosmetics, thus an impurity, derived from raw materials, such as pigments, and more rarely as a residue of the product manufacturing processes.

Preservatives are ingredients added to cosmetics (as well as many other products) to protect them from contamination by microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, moulds). These microorganisms may in fact deteriorate the product, altering its organoleptic properties (colour, odour, texture) and, although not frequently, compromise the safe use of the products by end users.

With the aim to ensure maximum tolerability of products by skin and, at the same time, effectively protect products from contamination, the BioNike laboratories have developed the DEFENCE, PROXERA and TRIDERM ranges without using traditional preservatives. Instead, BioNike has an alternative preservation system that makes use of a special synergy between excipients and natural bacteriostatic substances to “block” the water inside products, thereby not leaving that water available for microorganisms to proliferate in, hence the products are well protected and preserved effectively like any other product on the market.

Of all the cosmetic ingredients available, perfume is amongst those that most frequently cause skin reactions.This is why we’ve chosen not to include perfume in most of our products in the DEFENCE, TRIDERM and PROXERA ranges, to meet the needs of sensitive skin to have safer products that do not trigger a reaction.

The statement indicating that products "do not contain gluten or gluten derivatives" allows subjects with non-celiac gluten sensitivity to take an informed decision.As a result, all raw materials used in products of the TRIDERM , DEFENCE, SHINE ON and PROXERA ranges are carefully selected to exclude any possible gluten source.

The active ingredients in the formula helps prevent bacterial growth typical of seborrheic skin irritability, playing at the same time a strong bacteriostatic, sebum-normalizing and antioxidant.
