There are many different types of bracing patterns. The most common and enduring pattern used on steel-string acoustic guitars is called ''X'' bracing; so named for the two braces that form an ''X'' by crossing each other in the middle of the pattern.Not all ''X'' bracing patterns are created equal, however.
